Another Day, more attacks....

Today was not any better than yesterday in Israel, with more attacks around the nation.  There have been 4 stabbing attacks, and much more violence than we can list - and also much of it doesn't make the headlines, even here in Israel.  If you haven't read the past two blogs, you may want to do so.  Please know our intent in sending out these updates are not to glorify the attacks, but rather to bring awareness to the reality of the times in which we live.

The first attack happened in Jerusalem at the Ammunition Hill Light Rail train stop.  The attacker stabbed a Yeshiva (Bible) student in the neck, and also stabbed a security guard.

The second attack occurred near the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv.  The terrorist worked at a nearby construction site and attacked a female soldier and 4 other citizens, stabbing them with a screwdriver.

Seeing the attack (the terrorist had stabbed the soldier, stole her weapon, and ran towards the mall) an Israeli Air Force soldier was able to shoot the terrorist, killing him.

Air Force soldiers are targets, so they don't show their face in media,
which is why he was interviewed from the back.

The third attack happened near the city of Hevron (where Abraham & Sarah, Isaac & Rebecca and Jacob & Leah are buried).  He was stabbed in the back by a terrorist who fled the scene.  The IDF have a manhunt looking for him.  Details of what happened have not yet bet revealed.

A fourth stabbing attack just occurred.  One or Two Israelis are injured in the Northern town of Afula (just south of Nazareth).  Details are unclear as it just happened.

The link below shows a video of Palestinian terrorists attacking an officer's truck.  He had gotten away, and the truck had smash-proof glass, but you can get an idea of what they are doing to many who are in their cars in the past few days.

In the meantime, the Deputy Defense Minister calls for anyone with a gun and experience to be alert and prevent another attack.  The mayor of Jerusalem also calls on all citizens with gun permits to carry weapons.  This is Israel.  Not the United States.

At the same time, metal detectors are being installed at many of the Jerusalem Old City Gates in attempt to thwart attacks.

Next Tuesday, we have the opportunity to visit an IDF commander, and dear friend in the Golan Heights.  CFI has provided numerous items for this Golani battalion, and we're taking the opportunity to continue the connection and encourage these brave warriors.

We'd like to ask you to please remember the Israel Defense Force soldiers, Israeli Border Police, and security personnel (along with the public) in prayer, as they are the biggest target of many of the ongoing daily attacks - especially those that DON'T make the news.

Psalm 10New King James Version (NKJV)

A Song of Confidence in God’s Triumph over Evil

10 Why do You stand afar off, O Lord?
Why do You hide in times of trouble?
The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor;
Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.
For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire;
He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.
The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.
His ways are always prospering;
Your judgments are far above, out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.
He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity.”
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression;
Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.
He sits in the lurking places of the villages;
In the secret places he murders the innocent;
His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.
He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den;
He lies in wait to catch the poor;
He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.
10 So he crouches, he lies low,
That the helpless may fall by his strength.
11 He has said in his heart,
“God has forgotten;
He hides His face;
He will never see.”
12 Arise, O Lord!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble.
13 Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
“You will not require an account.
14 But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.
16 The Lord is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His land.
17 Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
18 To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.
